Have any of you ever taken a peek at the ingredient list on those pre-made spice mixtures you see at the grocery store?
If not, do this next time you are there. More times than not, these pre-made mixtures include hydrogenated oils and plenty of unnecessary sugars.
I find it kind of unbelievable and rather annoying because it’s like we really can’t assume anything when it comes to food these days. It seems ‘dirty’ ingredients can find a way to sneak into the most unexpected places.
But don’t let it discourage you. Eating clean is like anything in life; a journey, not a destination.
We learn, apply, discover, apply, take two steps back, move forward, eat a donut, move on, etc.
As long as we stay committed to the journey and moving in the direction of, then technically, we have arrived.
So the next time you are thinking to make some tacos or some taco dip, (recipe coming friday) take an extra 5-minutes and make it from scratch. Not only will avoid the unwanted ingredients, but it will taste better because YOU made it.
Clean EatingTaco Seasoning
- 2 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tbsp. ground cumin.
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp. cocoa powder
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
